ABOUT ME

My name is Casey Liberatore and I am 22 years old and a recent graduate of Bloomsburg University. During my time at BU, I majored in Mass Communications and followed the Emergent Media track. Along with my major, I was also a Dance Minor. With my track, I have taken classes in Graphic and Web Design, along with Social Media. The great thing about being a Mass Comm major at Bloom is the variety of classes that are offered in the major and how we are free to take classes in what ever we want. So along with my track classes, I have taken classes in Video Editing/Production, News Writing, and PR techniques. On the class work and portfolio page, you can see some of the work I have done for class.

This past summer I was an intern for a small company called Chloe Johnston Experiences that is based out of Berwyn, PA. During my time with company, I worked with the events coordinator on planning the companies biggest event. I also was able to use my love and knowledge of photography and graphic design. I made plenty of flyers and marketing materials for the company. One was even published in a magazine. I also used my skills with social media and posted on their Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest daily.

Some fun facts about me:

I have been dancing since I was 2 years old. I starting competing when I was 11. Thanks to dance I have been able to dance for the Philadelphia 76ers, Paula Abdul and with many famous dance professionals all over the country. I have been apart of many national award winning routines. My love for dance has followed me to college. Along with my minor in dance I am also a part of the Bloomsburg Dance Ensemble and Dance Team. During my sophomore year I was named the PR chair for the Ensemble, which I was in charge of all social media, flyers and the annual clothing sale. After my year as the PR chair I was names the President and was proud to run one of the largest student run organizations at BU for the past two years. With this title I over saw all the teachers and exec members while also planning and putting together a show in the Fall and Spring. On top of my leadership roles for the Ensemble I was also voted amongst my peers to be the Captain of the Dance Team for the past two years. Much like being the President I over saw the team, planned competitions, fundraisers, and choreographed dances.

I recently just fell in love with photography. I love taking pictures of nature and everything around me. You can always find me taking pictures of my brother swimming and at my old dance studio's dance recital.

Another little fact about me is that I have RND or reflex neurovascular dystrophy. This is a pain disorder that attacks my nerves, in my joints and limbs. My pain is really only in my legs, hands and feet. I can’t adjust to temperature chances and don’t like to be touched in the areas that I have to most pain. On bad days my limbs are very swollen and I can barely walk. When it gets cold out or I am very cold I will turn extremely pale and blue in my hands and feet. It is something that I deal with every day and have to life with for the rest of my life but that is why I love dance so much. Yes it may be super painful some days and all I want to do is cry but it is my physical therapy.
